Children on the move is a project working to create a lasting record of evacuation in Staffordshire. Whether you were an evacuee or not, if you have an evacuation momory to share we would love to hear from you!

Barbara Gull

Barbara Gull stayed with the Mellor family on their farm with her sister and cousins. She had stayed with the Mellors before war broke out, so knew that she would be well looked after.

Bert Bugden

Bert lived in Ramsgate before being evacuated to Stafford where he stayed with three different families, some pet rabbits and a dog called Elysium.

Mervyn Jones

Mervyn Jones went to live in Milford with his mother and father, who was head teacher at a school in Margate. He can remember seeing soldiers and gypsies on Cannock Chase.
